Contractor Tools for Your Bottom Line.

Qtool / Reporting

ComputerEase comes complete with hundreds of standard reports, such as Profit and Loss, Work in Progress, and Estimated vs. Actual Job Cost. These standard reports provide great built-in functionality and ease of reporting. But ComputerEase also knows that no matter how much standardized reporting functionality is built into the software, a specific need that is not met by standardizations will always arise.

ComputerEase developed Qtool, the industry's easiest report writer, to address this need. Qtool gives you the ability to create customized, detailed reports, without requiring the skills of a computer programmer.

When you create customized reports with Qtool, you have access to data from any of the ComputerEase modules, including any user defined fields that you have been specifically added.

After generating a report, you can create and apply your own formulas, and add headings, totals, and filters. Then simply save it in ComputerEase or export it to another program, such as a spreadsheet program or a database.

The great flexibility that Qtool provides offers an endless number of ways for you to benefit.

Custom Report Ideas:

  • Which estimators are creating on-target jobs
  • What types of jobs are most profitable (e.g. schools vs. hospitals)

ODBC

For some companies, ComputerEase Construction Management Software meets all their needs. Other companies, however, may want to integrate some of the data contained in ComputerEase with a variety of other applications.

In addition to the standard importing and exporting features built into the system, the ComputerEase database is fully ODBC compliant, which means that you can easily integrate ComputerEase with other software programs, such as Word, Excel, Access, and Lotus. Every time new information is posted in ComputerEase, the reports that were created in other applications update automatically.

"We haven't found anything Qtools could not do"

Uh, we main, mainly use the QTool uhm, we haven't found that there's anything that QTool could not do. Uh, the second most important part though is uh, is putting the information in, in the front end because you have to think about what are all the different kind of, types of things that you'd like to track uh, once you know that and you start plugging it in over time uh, you have those tidbits of gold that you can just keep pulling out.

There is a couple of the features that we've used a great deal is, the first one is user defined fields. You can create fields, things you wanna measure. You can create those fields in any of the modules of ComputerEase and then go over to QTool and compile reports and get data just about any way you want to get it and that's very, very powerful because you may want to track jobs by project manager so you set up a user defined field and, when you set the job up, you put the project manager in there and you go over to the feature, which is QTools, which, which compiles that data and you say I just want the jobs that this project manager, belong to this project manager. You would get reports for reviews, you can get information. I've used it uhm, to track different types of jobs, whether it's commercial, residential, government. Uhm, to try to see what industry, what's my gross profit margin on all of my government jobs? What's my gross profit margin on all of my schools? And I can do that by using those user defined fields. Uhm, some of the other features and I encourage anybody looking at the software to really look at this is you can use your job numbering system to do a lot of very, very powerful things.

Well, Qtools, uhm, we use a lot of user defined fields. Like in payroll, we, we put in a user defined field, it's employees, their spouses, their children, uh, when they have gotten their safety certifications, Christmas gifts, and then we can easily just pull that right back out into Qtools. Uh, work in process is created through Qtools, lots of cost reporting uh, is through Qtools. We also pull another one through payroll where uh, uh, hire dates, because we need to know when their six months is up to go, to be eligible for 401K, 30 days for their medical. So there's just various, I don't think there's a section that we don't use inside ComputerEase that we don't have the Qtool report behind it, too.
